21 January 2022

21.01.2022 – The report presents the state of water in Kosovo for the period 2015–2020. The report covers the state of surface and groundwater, laws and bylaws governing the water sector, strategic water-related documents, the hydrological network, precipitation, protected water areas, water use across different sectors, as well as investments and projects in the water sector.

The data used to prepare the report were collected from institutions responsible for monitoring the quality and quantity of water, companies managing water resources, as well as other governmental and non-governmental institutions with specific responsibilities in the water sector.

Some data were also obtained from various sources, such as publications, projects and different studies. The data in the report are presented in textual and tabular form, as well as in figures, and are organized according to the respective fields and sectors. A separate chapter of the report presents the conclusions and provides recommendations for undertaking appropriate measures to improve the situation.

The main purpose of the report is to inform the general public about the state of water in Kosovo. At the same time, the report provides valuable information for guiding policies in the water sector and serves as a document that can assist donors in directing projects in the water sector. This is the third sectoral report on the state of water.

Previously, KEPAA published the Report on the State of Water 2010 and the Report on the State of Water 2015. The report was published in both electronic and printed formats in Albanian, Serbian and English and is distributed free of charge to the public and all other interested parties.
