Through the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Kosovo has achieved the greatest progress to date in the history of reporting to the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET).
The European Environment Agency has published the pre-final assessment of data flows in EIONET for 2021. Compared to the previous assessment, Kosovo has once again made progress in the reporting process, fulfilling 100% of the reporting obligations planned for this year and ranking first among the countries that have fulfilled this reporting obligation.
As part of the assessment for this period, Kosovo received the maximum score in each of the relevant reporting areas, namely: reporting of annual air quality data, online reporting of air quality data, reporting of air emissions, reporting of greenhouse gases, reporting on protected areas, reporting on water quality, and reporting on water quantity.
The year 2021 marks the greatest progress in the history of EIONET/EEA reporting achieved by Kosovo through KEPA, compared to 2011 (57%), 2018 (60%), 2019 (67%) and 2020 (89%).
This success was achieved thanks to the work and dedication of KEPA experts, cooperation with other monitoring institutions at the national level, as well as support from donors through various projects.
This success also demonstrates KEPA’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations towards the European Environment Agency and in the process of European integration.
