As part of its mission in Kosovo, a team of experts from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency visited the Directorate for the Administration of “Sharri” National Park, where they were welcomed by Director Bajram Kafexholli. He briefed them on the organization of the Directorate, the natural values of the area, as well as the problems and challenges faced by the Directorate.
The visit continued in the tourist area of Zaplluzhë, in the Municipality of Dragash, with a hike along visitor trails to Guri i Zi (Black Stone), namely the old trading trail, as well as to the birdwatching site within the territory of “Sharri” National Park in this area.
The purpose of the visit was to explore the possibility of expanding cooperation between the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency by adding a component focused on National Parks, improving communication, and implementing the Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive.
This activity was carried out within the framework of the project “Capacity Building for the Use of Environmental Data in Kosovo”, which is being implemented through cooperation between the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
