Today, a workshop entitled “Assessment of Measures for Reducing Air Emissions” was held in Prishtina, with the aim of presenting the preliminary results of the assessment of measures to reduce air emissions, based on data collected by the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency and analyzed using the GAINS model.
As part of the assessment conducted by the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL), the research methodology for assessing potential measures to reduce air emissions in three sectors was presented: small-scale combustion, energy and heat production, and diesel-based road transport.
The assessment also presented results on the cost-effectiveness of implementing these measures, suggested instruments and policies for implementing the measures to improve air quality in Kosovo, as well as the development of pollution reduction scenarios for 2030 and 2050.
The workshop, attended by representatives of central and local institutions, donors, public enterprises and civil society, is part of the project “Capacity Building for the Use of Environmental Data”, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and implemented as a result of cooperation between the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
