Representatives of KEPA reported to the Committee on Environment, Food, Agriculture, Spatial Planning and Development, chaired by Chairperson Fitore Pacolli-Dalipi, at a meeting aimed at providing information on the activities and projects of the agency in the field of nature protection.
KEPA representatives Fadil Brajraktari and Sami Behrami from the Institute for Nature Protection, and Bajram Kafexholli from the Administration of “Sharri” National Park, provided information on issues related to legal aspects in the nature sector. The meeting also addressed the shortage of staff and challenges related to the coverage of work and field activities.
The meeting further discussed the improvement and supplementation of secondary legislation in the nature sector, as well as the expansion of the list of protected areas.
The KEPA representatives also presented their recommendations concerning the protection of natural resources and sustainable management of “Sharri” National Park and “Bjeshkët e Nemuna” National Park, the establishment of a body for the administration and management of protected areas, and increasing the number of employees responsible for nature management.
Members of the Committee raised questions and concerns, while receiving sufficient answers and clarifications from the KEPA representatives.
