25 June 2023
During the afternoon hours on Saturday, 24 June 2023, we experienced a severe rainfall situation, particularly in the Peja region, where flash floods occurred. The severe flooding situation in Peja was caused by very high-intensity rainfall, with 54.6 mm (l/m²) of rain recorded within just 1 hour and 9 minutes, from 19:35 to 20:44. Such an amount of rainfall within such a short period inevitably causes flooding, in this case urban flooding.
Clarification: The Bistrica River in Peja currently (25 June 2023) does not pose a risk of river flooding. At 11:00, the water level was 93 cm, approximately 2.5 m below the maximum level, with a gradual downward trend.
Forecast for the Coming Hours
During this afternoon, 25 June 2023, rainfall is expected, with more pronounced intensity and coverage in the western and northern parts of the country. The situation is expected to gradually stabilize over the coming days.
