The Acting Executive Director of KEPA, Afrim Berisha, the Director of Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, Fatmir Morina, and several staff members of the Directorate of Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park today held a meeting with representatives of CNVP Kosovo, Xhevat Lushi, Director, and Hajrush Kurtaj, Advisor.
On this occasion, representatives of CNVP Kosovo announced that the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) and the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation (Switzerland) had officially approved financial support for the joint project “Shaping the Future of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna Region”.
The project aims to combine ecosystem conservation with socio-economic development in Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, by strengthening staff capacities and engaging key stakeholders in the sustainable use of natural resources.
The main objectives are: strengthening the implementation of the National Park Management Plan, developing guidelines for the sustainable use of natural resources, and increasing cooperation with the local community and raising awareness of the link between nature conservation and local development.
The project is co-financed by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation and DBU and will be implemented by CNVP Kosovo in partnership with NACOON GmbH (Germany), KEPA, the Directorate of Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, and the Alfred Toepfer Academy for Nature Conservation over a period of 36 months.
Among other topics, the meeting addressed the project objectives and cooperation in implementing the activity plan.
