17 December 2025

The management of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Acting Executive Director of KEPA Afrim Berisha, Director of Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park Fatmir Morina, and Acting Director of Sharri National Park Nail Kryeziu, today held a meeting with Nur-Aliyya Mattos, Director of Programs and Training at the U.S. Peace Corps in Kosovo, and Hyzri Halimi, Program Manager at the organization.

The main topic of discussion was the cooperation between the two organizations to date and opportunities for continuing this cooperation in the future. KEPA, namely the Directorates of the National Parks, have so far benefited from the support of U.S. Peace Corps volunteers engaged through their annual missions, particularly in the areas of national park management and biodiversity conservation.

In addition to discussing the need for continued support through the engagement of U.S. Peace Corps volunteers, the meeting also explored new opportunities for cooperation on environmental initiatives and joint efforts towards a greener and more sustainable future for Kosovo, with a focus on strengthening national park management, biodiversity monitoring and conservation, and cross-border cooperation.
