A delegation from Kosovo, consisting of representatives of Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, Sharri National Park and the Institute for Nature Protection, visited Montenegro, where they met with representatives of the Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro.
The main purpose of the visit was to discuss opportunities for strengthening cross-border cooperation between Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park in Kosovo and Prokletije National Park in Montenegro, within the framework of the EUROPARC Federation’s Transboundary Parks Programme.
This initiative represents an important step towards the joint protection of the natural values of the Accursed Mountains, strengthening regional cooperation and improving the sustainable management of protected areas on both sides of the border.
Other topics discussed included the harmonization of management plans, advancing the implementation of European standards for the management of protected areas, the development of sustainable tourism, visitor management and visitor revenue management in the park, as well as the exchange of bilateral experiences in biodiversity conservation.
During the visit, in addition to the official meetings, the delegation from Kosovo also had the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful and attractive parts of Prokletije National Park in the territory of Montenegro, gaining first-hand insight into the natural values, biodiversity and tourism potential offered by the park.
