The Directorate for the Management of Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, in cooperation with CNVP Kosovo, organised a two-day seminar on “Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park”.
The event brought together representatives of public institutions, local stakeholders, tourism operators, civil society organisations, and development partners to discuss the opportunities and challenges related to the development of sustainable tourism in the park.
The first day of the seminar, held in Peja, focused on mapping existing tourism initiatives, identifying key stakeholders, and discussing the current situation, challenges, and opportunities for sustainable tourism in the national park. Participants presented ongoing projects and initiatives, while interactive discussions explored common objectives for balancing economic development with nature conservation and clarified the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders.
The second day, held in Istog, focused on practical planning and future actions. Participants identified potential pilot initiatives that could support the development of sustainable tourism, explored funding opportunities and available financial resources, and discussed priority actions and recommendations.
Particular attention was given to the role of the National Park in actively supporting sustainable tourism through improved coordination and stakeholder engagement.
The workshop concluded with an agreement on key follow-up actions and responsibilities, strengthening cooperation among stakeholders and laying the foundations for future initiatives that promote sustainable tourism while preserving the unique natural and cultural values of Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park.
This workshop was organised as part of ongoing efforts to support participatory management, sustainable local development, and the long-term conservation of one of Kosovo’s most valuable protected areas.
