14 December 2023

Under the organization of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency and the implementing project partners, Participatio Ltd and REC Albania, a meeting was held regarding the improvement of Reporting for the Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) in Kosovo.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide an overview of the legal and technical requirements regarding the implementation of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) and Integrated Reporting for the Electronic Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) and Large Combustion Plants (LCP) in Kosovo, with a focus on their interconnection in Europe.

The meeting also aimed to assess achievements, identify current challenges, and further needs related to the implementation of the E-PRTR in Kosovo, including the role of authorities, operators, and NGOs in this process.

During the meeting, there were also discussions with the authorities and interested parties about this process, regarding the next steps on the functioning and improvement of the integrated reporting of RSHTN and E-RSHTN & LCP. AMMK, as the beneficiary of this project, besides reviewing the legal framework for PRTR, also received support in developing the online reporting system for PRTR, as well as in building the capacities of institutions and economic operators for reporting and maintaining the registry. The activity was organized within the framework of the project “Improvement of Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (RSHTN) in the Western Balkans and the Republic of Moldova,” supported by the German Government, specifically by the Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety under the supervision of the German Environment Agency.
