The European Environment Information and Observation Network (Eionet) is a partnership network of the European Environment Agency (EEA) and its member and cooperating countries. This overview presents the results of data collected in 2022 for 13 core EIONET data sets. It summarizes the assessment of hundreds of data submissions received from reporting countries.
The purpose of this overview is to show progress against the agreed reporting criteria (timeliness and data quality), allowing countries to identify and prioritize the resources needed for regular reporting procedures.
Providing high-quality data from Eionet is essential for the EEA to achieve its mission of delivering timely, targeted, relevant, and reliable information to policymakers and the public.
Key messages
Two countries managed to achieve a data flow result of 100%: Kosovo and North Macedonia (Figure). A result of 100% indicates the provision of data on time and with high quality across all covered data sets.
In addition, five countries managed to achieve a final result of 90% or higher. These countries are (in order): Austria, the Netherlands, Estonia, Ireland, and Poland.
One of the main performance indicators in the EEA-Eionet Strategy 2021-2030 is achieving an average data flow result of at least 90%. This objective has not been fully achieved, as the overall reporting performance of the countries is 81% for the 27 EU countries and 81% for all EEA and cooperating countries.
