Kosovo has been accepted as a full member of the European Network of Conservation Agencies known as ENCA. This is an informal network that promotes the exchange of information and cooperation among its partners. Membership was confirmed at the plenary meeting of the regular ENCA members, after reviewing the request of the relevant Environmental Protection Agency, namely the Institute for Nature Conservation, to be part of this European network important for nature conservation.
The ENCA network identifies future challenges and provides information and advice to decision-makers in the fields of nature conservation and landscape protection. ENCA brings together expertise in collecting and analyzing scientific evidence, practical implementation knowledge, and experience in administration and policy advice concerning biodiversity, landscape protection, and ecosystem services. The network consists of European nature conservation agencies or similar bodies that have nature conservation within their broader portfolio. This includes the conservation of biodiversity, landscape, and geodiversity. Members have important executive or advisory duties to fulfill for their governments and mainly come from the central institutions of European countries.
Kosovo's membership in this network, specifically in the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, will help in the exchange of experiences from European countries regarding the drafting and implementation of nature protection policies. For more, visit the ENCA website
