The Kosovo Institute for Nature Protection, as the central institution responsible for nature conservation, has continued activities for the protection of nesting bird species. The next activity was carried out in cooperation with the Non-Governmental Organization Wildlife Photographer and with the companies for distribution and supply of electricity KEDS and KESC.
On this occasion, platforms for nesting birds have been placed on several electric poles in the area of the municipality of Ranillug.
The platforms are dedicated to the species: European Roller (Coracias garrulus), and will serve as a shelter for them and also as a place for nesting, thus contributing to the increase in the number of these species that are very important for the ornithofauna.
Where the type of bird spreads over a wide region, starting from Western Europe and Northwestern Africa all the way to the Indian subcontinent and further to the eastern coast of Asia and down to Southeast Asia.
One of the purposes of this activity, besides creating conditions for the protection of this type of our ornithofauna, is certainly also the promotion of a positive example to protect the populations of the Sea Griffon.
