According to the forecast of the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo / HMIK - MMPHI, sunny and very hot weather will continue in Kosovo in the coming days. High temperatures, in addition to their negative impacts on human health, significantly increase the likelihood of fires spreading in forests, including those in National Parks.
With the aim of preventing the occurrence and spread of fires, MMPHI/HMIK, through the Directorate for the Administration of the “Sharr” National Park and the Directorate for the Administration of the “Bjeshkët e Nemuna” National Park, has increased vigilance, readiness, control, and monitoring of the Parks' territory. To manage this situation more effectively, the level of cooperation with all relevant authorities has also been increased.
On this occasion, we appeal to all citizens of Kosovo and especially to visitors, residents of park areas, property users, and other citizens to exercise maximum caution in preventing the outbreak and spread of fires in the park territories.
We request that all of you, in case you see any potential fire ignition in the National Parks, report it to the contact numbers of the respective Directorates: The Directorate of the 'Bjeshkët e Nemuna' National Park: 048 222 718 and 044 155 735; and the Directorate of the 'Sharri' National Park: 045 308 164 and 044 263 188.
