The Post of Kosovo, through its Philately, has today issued for postal circulation the stamp series titled "Natural Monuments - Ancient Trees." Within this series, from the rich treasury of Kosovo's natural heritage, three stamps present three trees of particular natural and cultural significance.
The trunks of the six oaks of Likoshan and the trunk of the service tree in Aqarevë are protected by the state, while the trunk of the ash tree in Gjyrishec of Kamenica is proposed for legal protection. Besides their natural values, the trunks of the six oaks of Likoshan also have historical significance, because for decades they have symbolized the resilience and resistance of the people of this region. Meanwhile, the trunk of the service tree in Aqarevë of Skenderaj and the trunk of the ash tree in Gjyrishec of Kamenica are natural monuments with a botanical character, representing the type of hard and durable wood, with significant ecological and educational values.
This postage stamp issue has been realized with the support of the Kosovo Institute for Nature Protection, and it will remain in postal circulation until completely sold out.
Otherwise, the Philately of Post of Kosovo J.S.C., through the continuous issuance of postage stamps, has made a very important contribution to the promotion of Kosovo's natural values and their presentation to the general public.
