Within the framework of the annual meeting of the Environmental Communication Group of the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET), which this time focused on “Common Challenges Illustrated Through Local Stories,” the experiences of inter-institutional cooperation in Kosovo for forest fire management were also presented.

Kosovo's example of establishing the platform of the “National Forest Fire Information System - NFFIS,” presented at this meeting, was described as a good example of co-creation with broad institutional participation and was highly appreciated by participants and organizers.

For this system supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), several national institutions have closely collaborated, such as: the Emergency Agency (project leader), the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, the Kosovo Forestry Agency, the Kosovo Cadastral Agency, and the Kosovo Statistics Agency.

The meeting was held in Malaga, Spain, within the framework of the work program of the European Environment Agency. Kosovo is represented in the European network EIONET and in the program of the European Environment Agency through the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency as a coordinator, but also through other relevant institutions with representatives who contribute to various working groups focusing on different environmental topics.
