The Deputy Executive Director of AMMK, Afrim Berisha, the Director of IHMK, Armend Agushi, and Bashkim Kastrati from the IHMK hydrology sector, participated in the ministerial conference “Challenges of Adapting to Climate Change in Southeastern Europe,” held in Brdo, Slovenia.
As part of their participation in this conference, the delegation from Kosovo also had the opportunity to meet with the Minister for Environment, Climate, and Energy of Slovenia, Mr. Bojan Kumer, the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, Ms. Celeste Saulo, and the Executive Director of the European Environment Agency, Ms. Leena Ylä-Mononen.
Within the framework of the conference sessions, various topics were discussed, including the role of meteorological services in adapting to climate change, regional cooperation for climate change adaptation, and regional cooperation for strengthening resilience to drought through policies, technologies, monitoring, and strategies for the management of shared resources.
Within these sessions and meetings, the representatives of AMMK had the opportunity to present developments in Kosovo regarding the establishment of the national network for hydro-meteorological monitoring, legislation, and policies for climate change adaptation and expressed their readiness to be part of regional monitoring and data-sharing networks.
