The National Determined Contribution is approved

April 11, 2025

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has approved the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). With this document, a four-year campaign of climate diplomacy is concluded, sending a clear message to the international community that Kosovo is ready to achieve emission reduction goals, but beforehand must be recognized in status and enabled access to United Nations conventions and multilateral climate funds.

Climate change is affecting our country through floods, droughts, and extreme heatwaves, threatening the livelihoods of citizens. The NDC demonstrates that Kosovo has the potential to reduce emissions by up to 49%, but this is only possible if we have access to international financial support in the form of grants.

Kosovo is investing in building climate security with more than 100 concrete projects and initiatives such as dams for drinking water and irrigation security, new energy capacities for sustainable supply, support for farmers, studies for more drought-resistant crops, SMS early warning systems for floods, and many other projects that have already been completed or are in the initial phase of implementation.
