Students of the University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina," from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Biology Department, led by assistant Bledar Pulaj, visited today the Kosovo Institute for Nature Protection (IKMN).
During this visit, the students had the opportunity to closely observe the work of IKMN and to get acquainted with the Institute's engagements, activities, and current projects in the field of protected areas and biodiversity.
During the discussion and interaction, they had the chance to ask questions and receive more detailed information regarding the process of declaring protected areas, cooperation with municipalities, monitoring of protected areas, and fulfilling obligations for the protection of nature and biodiversity in the process of European integration.
Students were also informed about the possibility of engaging in practical work at the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, specifically within the framework of research carried out by the Nature Institute in the field of nature and biodiversity protection.
For several years, IKMN has built a good partnership of cooperation with the Faculty of Natural Mathematical Sciences (FSHMN), where, in addition to informative visits, students of this faculty also have the opportunity to undertake practical work and prepare their diploma topics.
This cooperation also includes the joint engagement of IKMN and FSHMN in important research projects in the field of nature conservation and biodiversity. Such projects realized through this cooperation are the preparation of the Red Book of Vascular Flora, the preparation of the Red Book of Fauna, the preparation of studies and reports on the natural values of several protected areas, and the zoning process for some of these areas.
