03 July 2025

The Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency held the informational meeting "Assessment of Potentially Contaminated Sites in Kosovo." This activity, organized in cooperation with the company iRN LLC, within the framework of participation in the work program of the European Environment Agency, is being supported by European Union funds under the IPA III Program.

The purpose of this meeting, where participants representing municipalities, central institutions, and other relevant organizations were invited, was to cooperate in the assessment and identification of potentially contaminated lands in Kosovo, as part of the research on potential sources of soil pollution. During the meeting, the completion of the questionnaire for the research on potential sources of soil pollution was also discussed, to ensure effective and productive cooperation.

This project aims to create a database of polluted areas to assist in managing and planning capacities, as well as to improve knowledge and data reporting. Collecting information and data from relevant institutions and organizations about polluted land areas will provide more information about the level of pollution and types of pollutants, and will also be important for designing a plan for the rehabilitation of polluted lands and increasing funds for their treatment and revitalization.
