The EU4Green project has launched the regional photography contest with the theme: “Green Examples in the Western Balkans.”
As part of ongoing efforts to promote the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, EU4Green invites amateur photographers from across the region to document and showcase the most inspiring stories about nature and the environment, best practices leading to green transformation, communicate issues related to the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, raise awareness about pollution, innovations, and sustainability, convey environmental progress, or highlight problems caused by human activity.
Contest Themes
Participants are invited to submit a series of 4–6 photographs addressing one of the following thematic areas:
Circular Economy: Reflecting practices that reduce waste, encourage reuse, and promote sustainable consumption and production.
• Sustainable Agriculture: Emphasizing agricultural practices that balance productivity with care for the environment.
• Pollution: Illustrating the challenges of pollution and/or initiatives to restore the quality of air, water, and soil.
• Green Finance: Capturing efforts for responsible investments and financing in the function of sustainable development.
• Green Education: Promoting educational initiatives that encourage environmental awareness and action.
• Biodiversity: Showing the protection of natural habitats, species, and ecosystems, fostering wealth and ecological sustainability.
Artistic Approach
Submissions must present a clear narrative and a meaningful environmental message, embracing a strong artistic vision. Participants are encouraged to creatively translate the technical or abstract themes of sustainability into powerful visual stories.
Care:
• Participants must be 18 years or older.
• Only non-professional photographers are allowed to participate.
• Only photo series (4–6 images) are allowed.
• Individual images, generic landscapes, or AI-generated content will not be considered.
Submission Details:
• Submission format: High-resolution photographs (minimum 300 dpi), accompanied by a description that includes the story, location, and date.
• Email submission: contact@eu4green.eu
• You can use file transfer services like WeTransfer or Swiss Transfer, or attach them directly in an email — just make sure to include the download link in the message.
• Submission deadline: August 15, 2025
Prizes and Awards
Prizes will be awarded to the best participants, including:
A regional ecotourism experience (destination to be determined).
Award ceremony – awarded participants will be invited to a special prize-giving event and the official opening of the photo exhibition.
Exhibition in the Western Balkans – winning photographs will be displayed in a traveling exhibition throughout the Western Balkans.
Official recognition and promotion through EU4Green social media, website, press releases, and partner networks.
