Memorandum of Understanding on the inclusion of children in Kosovo in environmental protection

26 September 2025

The Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Save the Children Kosovo, and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation for the protection of the environment, biodiversity, and the inclusion of children in nature-related activities and sustainable development within the frameworks of the projects “Capacity Building in Nature Protection and Use of Environmental Data” and “Advancing the Well-being of Children and Youth with Disabilities through Improved Social Inclusion in Kosovo,” supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and represented by the Swedish Embassy in Pristina.

This memorandum establishes the framework of partnership between the parties, combining institutional and programmatic expertise to achieve tangible results in the fields of environmental protection and the promotion of children's rights. Through this cooperation, joint activities will be organized, such as inclusive summer camps, awareness campaigns in national parks, workshops with children, as well as the inclusion of their perspective in environmental data collection through 'citizen science.' The memorandum will remain in effect until the end of 2027 and represents the joint commitment to a healthier environment, a more inclusive society, and a more sustainable future for new generations.
