"Where does the garbage belong?!": An artistic installation, with environmental content

26 August 2010

For three consecutive days (23, 24, and 25 May) at Shatërvani Square in Prizren, director Resul Jusufi exhibited an installation with educational-environmental content.

Through the artistic display of improvised waste on one side, and throwing it into baskets in an organized manner on the other side, the creator and executor of this project aimed to stimulate the community's awareness of environmental protection.

The installation "Where Does the Trash Belong?!" aroused the curiosity of many citizens both in terms of its content and the way it was executed.

The author hopes that with this installation he will also travel to other centers in Kosovo. The opening ceremony of this project was attended by the CEO of AKMM, Ilir Morina, as well as representatives from the Directorate for Public Services of the Municipality of Prizren, the public company Eco-Region, and other structures.

Waste management represents one of the biggest environmental concerns for urban areas in Kosovo. Despite the projects carried out so far and the involvement of central and local environmental institutions, this problem has still not been resolved.

Community awareness is one of the best ways to achieve success. Among this series of efforts, this project can also be included, even though its implementation method was somewhat unique. We can assess that this project has achieved its goal because it has conveyed well the message that the author wanted to convey. The project was supported by the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, the Municipal Assembly of Prizren, the company Eco-Region, Finca, IS-Company, and Art Pen.
