At an event organized on the occasion of World Clean Cities Day and World Car-Free Day, the MMPH, specifically AMMK, promoted the Report on the state of waters in Kosovo.

The report, in addition to data on the condition of surface waters and drinking water, contains information on the legal and institutional framework for water, water resources, water usage, erosion, floods, as well as other general data for the water sector. At the same time, this is the first official report on the state of waters published by the MMPH.

In his speech on the occasion, the Deputy Minister of MMPH, Idriz Vehapi, stated that the management of water resources, protection, and monitoring of their quality is one of the most important tasks and responsibilities of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.

Furthermore, he emphasized that while valuable progress has been made in preparing the legal framework for waters, the effective protection of water resources and the integrated system for monitoring the quality of surface waters still remain challenges for the MMPH and objectives that we aim to achieve in the future. Speaking about the Water Status Report, Deputy Minister Vehapi highlighted that "although the primary goal of this report is to inform about the state of waters in Kosovo, we hope that its data will also serve as a good basis for building adequate policies for the water sector as well as guiding developments, planning, and strategic investments in this sector."

Prof. Dr. Selvete Krasniqi from the National Institute of Public Health in her speech emphasized the need for inter-institutional cooperation for monitoring the state of waters, exchanging information, and improving the information system on the state of waters. Meanwhile, Mr. Rizah Hjadari from AMMK made a presentation of the main findings of the report, problems, and recommendations.
