01 October 2010 - The Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency and the Regional Environmental Movement BELLS Kosovo have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. Through the signing of this memorandum, these two institutions agree to increase joint efforts and commitments in the implementation of public policies, always based on prior environmental assessments. Both signatory parties of this document agree to cooperate and coordinate joint actions on issues related to environmental protection, through the so-called Green Diplomacy process, through which the increase in the number of citizens engaged in environmental issues in general, and general development at the local and national level in particular, will be influenced.
The subject of this cooperation agreement is also closely related to participation in joint activities in the implementation of a broad awareness and information campaign for the citizens of Kosovo regarding the protection and improvement of the environmental situation, motivating them to ensure that engagement in environmental issues is continuous and based on concrete matters.
Among other things, the memorandum also foresees the commitment that environmental issues will be an inseparable and continuous part of the entire policy-making process at national and local levels, support for green initiatives in the general interest of the citizens of Kosovo, support for NGO activities focused on environmental issues, as well as the intensification of inter-municipal, regional, and cross-border cooperation.
