A delegation from the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, led by Chief Dr. Ilir Morina, paid an official visit to Tirana, where they visited the Environmental and Forestry Agency of Albania. The purpose of the visit was to exchange experiences in the reporting process to the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Environmental Information and Observation Network (EIONET). The delegation from Kosovo was initially received by the Director of the Environmental and Forestry Agency of Albania, Ms. Etleva Canaj, who, after welcoming the delegation from Kosovo, expressed the institution's willingness to support the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency in the process of reporting environmental data to the EEA and EIONET.
Meanwhile, the CEO of AMMK, Dr. Ilir Morina, after expressing his thanks for the welcome, said that cooperation between the two institutions is very important and necessary.
During the visit to the premises of the Albanian Environment and Forestry Agency, the staff of AMMK had the opportunity to become closely acquainted with the work of this institution in the reporting process to the European Environment Agency – EEA and the European Environmental Information and Observation Network – EIONET, starting from the types of information required, the data formats, reporting deadlines, and other technical and professional aspects.
At the conclusion of the visit, both delegations agreed to continue cooperation in other important environmental fields through the exchange of experiences and expertise.
During this year, Kosovo has, for the first time, participated in the meetings of the European Environment Agency as an equal partner with all other Western Balkan countries. With these meetings, Kosovo has also been officially accepted as a partner in the process of exchanging environmental data within the EEA and EIONET. Reporting and exchanging data with these institutions is a very important factor for Kosovo in the process of European Integration.
