Press release after the meeting organized by the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce regarding the malicious report of EULUP on the state of land in Kosovo

22 February 2012 22.02.2012 - The Chief Executive of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency (KEPA), Dr. Sc. Ilir Morina, has invited local institutions, local media, as well as all relevant stakeholders in Kosovo to come to the defense of local agricultural products. Ilir Morina said: 'Today we are gathered here to protect Kosovo's production, after a cunning and sneaky manipulation carried out through the authors of this report.' Mr. Morina made this call during a roundtable organized by the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KCC) on the occasion of the publication of the report at the end of January, on behalf of EULUP, in which the quality of Kosovo's soil is attacked without any scientific argument.

“I also ask the local media to stand by, together with all of us here in local production, valuable production. Patriotism today is to protect local production,” said the CEO of AMMK, at the roundtable organized by OEK. Morina said that the maliciously published report, in the most unscrupulous way, has damaged the image of the land of Kosovo, without any professional justification. On this occasion, he invited the local media not to allow themselves to be manipulated by the authors of such reports. “I ask the local media to conduct a more dedicated and detailed reading of this manipulative report, so that the image of local production and the export of these products from Kosovo is not harmed,” said Mr. Ilir Morina.

Meanwhile, the CEO of AMMK has accused the authors of this report (of EULUP) that they had no other purpose than to gain material benefits, and thus tried to manipulate the truth about the state of the land in Kosovo, its quality, and the quality of local agricultural products. "The malicious report is the request of some manipulative individuals for material gain. This report has caused great damage to Kosovo's products worth millions and, at the same time, to the economy of our country," said Mr. Morina. In his presentation, he explained to Kosovo's producers and many other attendees that the report published in the name of EULUP refers to only 123 analyzed samples, which represent only 6 (six) percent of the samples taken across Kosovo. Morina clarified that this very poor approach is among many other evidences.

regarding the missing parts of the report and its ultimate purpose.

He said that the report as such deliberately harms the farmers and other producers of Kosovo without respecting any professional criteria of local and European standards for the drafting of such reports. 'It unscrupulously damages all the work of our agricultural producers without any professional justification,' said Mr. Morina. 'The report is cunning; it is a request to benefit some individuals, but in fact and unfortunately, it causes extremely serious damage to farmers throughout Kosovo and its economy,' said the CEO of AMMK, Mr. Ilir Morina.

Meanwhile, Mr. Morina invited the attendees - the Minister of Agriculture of Kosovo, Mr. Blerand Stavileci, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kosovo Veterinary Agency, Mr. Valdet Gjinovci, the President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Safet Hërxhaliu, the Representative of the Ministry of Environment of Kosovo, Mr. Gani Berisha, and the local agricultural producers present at the table along with the local media, to verify on the ground—in the production sites—the real condition of Kosovo's agricultural land. He also invited the same individuals for an official tour through the countries of the region that import Kosovo's agricultural products and other food items to protect Kosovo's products, promote them, and to confirm that this report was yet another mistake by the opportunistic beneficiaries.
