19.10.2012- A delegation from the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, led by CEO Dr. Ilir Morina, from 08/10/2012 to 12/10/2012, visited the Austrian Environment Agency-UBA and the Czech Environmental Information Agency-CENIA.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation with these environmental institutions, with the European Environment Agency and the EIONET network, as well as to benefit from experiences in the preparation of national reports according to the requirements of the EEA and the experiences of EU member states in managing environmental issues.

During the stay at the Austrian Environment Agency, discussions were held about the Kosovo Central Data Repository in the EIONET network, as well as all Kosovo reports sent to the EEA for the year 2011 and the first half of 2012 were carefully analyzed.

The Austrian Environment Agency provided advice on improving the quality of sectoral reports, the quality of data sent to the EEA, and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation depending on the circulation of data. The shortcomings of the reports and measures that can be taken to improve them, both in terms of data quality and quantity, were analyzed. Additionally, the final phase of the twinning project, achievements, setbacks, and possibilities for continuing cooperation in future projects were also discussed.

During their stay in the Czech Republic, AMMK experts held meetings where they gained experience in the field of international cooperation with the Czech Environmental Information Agency, with a particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation with local and international institutions, including the EEA. The possibilities of developing joint AMMK-CENIA projects as well as cooperation opportunities within the IPA program were also analyzed and discussed. During their stay at CENIA, more specific issues were also discussed, such as waste management, the collection of environmental data, their classification, adaptation according to EEA requirements, preparation of reports on the state of the environment, as well as national and international cooperation in the implementation of environmental projects.
