The Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency held today a closing meeting for the activities of 2012. The CEO of AMMK, Dr. Ilir Morina, at the opening of the meeting emphasized that the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency is concluding this year with a series of results and achievements, but in this meeting, we will present only some of them, such as the promotion of two reports prepared by AMMK: the Report on Environmental Hotspots and the Report on Air Quality.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of MMPH, Ilir Mirena, in his speech emphasized that during this year, thanks to the support from the European Commission, excellent work has been done in completing the network for air quality monitoring throughout the territory of Kosovo, and therefore it can be stated freely that the national air monitoring network is now complete. He also highlighted that during this year, AMMK has successfully completed the implementation of the Twinning Project Support for the Environmental Sector in Kosovo, which has been considered by all involved and participants as one of the most successful projects in the environmental sector.
In the presentations for the Hotspot Report and the Air Quality Report, it was highlighted that both reports are very important in informing the public about the state of the environment, but at the same time, they are also very important documents not only for the MoE (Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning) but also for other institutions, because based on the conditions presented in these reports, policies and activities of institutions will be oriented with the aim of eliminating the identified problems and challenges. Likewise, these documents will serve as a good basis for cooperation with donors and for the development of environmental projects for the future.
Regarding the cooperation of AMMK with the European Environment Agency, it was stated that during this year the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency has managed to fully integrate into the activities and work program of the European Environment Agency, which has been evidenced by sending regular reports to this institution, participation in meetings, training sessions and workshops, as well as involvement in evaluative reports and other documents.
In this meeting, findings from the research "Environment in the Written Media" were also presented, and part of it was the signing ceremony of the cooperation memorandum between AKMM-IKSHP and the handover-receipt of equipment for air quality monitoring. At the end, acknowledgments and thanks were also given to the media, collaborators, and NGOs.
