23/07/2013 - As part of the process for the Preparation of the Spatial Plan for the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, by decision of the head of AMMK, Ilir Morina, a group of experts was appointed for the zoning of the park. Within this group, in addition to experts from AMMK and MMPH, external experts from the Department of Biology and the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, as well as representatives from Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations, have also been included.
In addition to analyzing existing documents, maps, and other relevant materials, the team of experts will also carry out field visits to study the natural values of the park, identify locations of rare plant and animal species, as well as conduct measurements and collect factual material from the field. Based on the findings of the expert team, proposals will be made for the protected areas of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park.
The zoning of the park and the determination of areas with different protection regimes is also provided for by the Law on the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park. According to the law, three protective regimes must be established in the park: the first zone, which is part of the territory with extraordinary natural features and must have the character of a strict protection area; the second zone, which includes parts of the territory characterized by ecosystems and other natural values where activities that are not contrary to the protection objectives can be carried out; and the third zone, which is an area where sustainable use is permitted, intended for the construction of facilities for recreation, leisure, and tourism, as well as for the needs of residents for the sustainable use of natural resources. The park will also have an impact zone, a space that serves to prevent harmful impacts.
The zoning of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, the Law on the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park, and the professional justification for declaring this territory as a protected area will be the main basis for drafting the Spatial Plan for the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park.
