28/10/2013 - Today, at the premises of the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, specifically the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, organized a thanksgiving and farewell ceremony for the Director of the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Sylë Tahirsylaj.
He has resigned from the position of Director of the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo and has been appointed to hold the position of full professor at the University of Prishtina in accordance with the implementation of the request of the Rector of the University of Prishtina addressed to the academic staff of this University, who have two regular employment relationships in public institutions, to determine which of the positions they would retain.
At the ceremony organized on this occasion, which was also attended by the two Deputy Ministers of MMPH, Mr. Ferat Shala and Mr. Shpëtim Rudi, the Permanent Secretary of MMPH, Mr. Arben Çitaku, the CEO of AMMK, Mr. Ilir Morina, as well as other officials from AMMK and MMPH, it was acknowledged that Prof. Dr. Sylë Tahirsylaj has made a very valuable contribution to the establishment, development, and strengthening of IHMK in particular and MMPH in general.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister of MMPH, Mr. Ferat Shala, among other things, appreciated that Prof. Dr. Sylë Tahirsylaj, through his work, was an example of the contribution that professors and people with a scientific profile can make to the establishment and development of institutions in Kosovo. He also emphasized, among other things, that the engagement of the director of IHMK has affirmed the work of IHMK, not only on the national stage but also internationally.
Meanwhile, the CEO of AMMK, Ilir Morina, speaking about the contribution of Prof. Dr. Sylë Tahirsylaj, mentioned some of the greatest achievements made at IHMK during his tenure as director, highlighting especially the completion of the air monitoring network, the equipping of the laboratory with modern equipment, as well as the completion of the hydrometric network.
Greeting those present at this ceremony, Prof. Dr. Sylë Tahirsylaj expressed gratitude for the support and trust he had received from the MMPH during his work as director of IHMK, and also expressed satisfaction at being part of the establishment and development of IHMK.
The director of IHMK, Prof. Dr. Sylë Tahirsylaj, remains well-known to all layers, above all as an indisputable voice in weather forecasting and in his analyses of the synoptic situation in Kosovo.
He worked as the director of IHMK since 1999. During this time, he made valuable contributions not only to the development and advancement of this institution but also to its structuring as an institution in harmony with the demands and needs of the state of Kosovo, especially in providing data and information for the drafting of national projects, strategies, and programs. Under his leadership, IHMK gained observer status within the World Meteorological Organization and was certified within EUMETSAT.
