03 October 2014

The French Government is assisting in the renovation and improvement of infrastructure in the Gadime Cave. This was confirmed during a visit yesterday by a French delegation led by Mr. Hervé Boisguillame, head of the Department for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy of France.

During this conference, Mr. Hervé Boisguillame and the CEO of AMMK, Mr. Ilir Morina, also announced other collaborations between Kosovo and France in the environmental protection sector and environmental projects for Kosovo supported by the French Government. Special focus was given to support for the renovation and improvement of infrastructure in the Gadime Cave. One of the projects that has already begun implementation is the adjustment of the lighting in the Gadime Cave.

The CEO of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Ilir Morina, stated on this occasion that this donation from the French Embassy is welcome. Meanwhile, officials from the French Embassy in Kosovo said that they are pleased that their investment has gone to the right place, while affirming that this embassy will continue its support in the future.

"We are planning to continue cooperation with other projects and funding as the French Embassy, regarding the improvement of electricity in the cave and making it as attractive as possible for tourists," said Herve Boisguillaume from the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy of France.

The delegation also included other representatives from the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy of France, as well as representatives from the French Embassy in Kosovo.

Otherwise, the delegation from the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy of France is staying in Kosovo within the framework of the Water and Environment Conference, which is being organized by this ministry in cooperation with the Government of Kosovo. The purpose of this conference is the exchange of expertise and experiences on various topics in the field of water and the environment, including water resource management, the organization of public services, applicable standards for water infrastructure, and drinking water quality. The exchanges will enable the identification of possible cooperation issues between France and Kosovo in this field.
