03 March 2015
Europe's Environmental and Climate Policies have delivered substantial results that have led to improvements in the environment and quality of life, the creation of new jobs, and economic growth. Despite these achievements, Europe still faces a number of ongoing and increasing environmental challenges. Addressing them will require fundamental changes in production and consumption systems, which are the main causes of environmental problems.
These are some of the key messages from the five-year assessment of the European Environment Agency, Europe's Environment, State and Outlook 2015 (SOER 2015), published today in Brussels. SOER 2015 is an integrated assessment of Europe's environment, which also includes assessments and data at global, regional, and country levels, as well as comparisons between states.
For the first time, Kosovo is also part of this Report. The state of the environment in Kosovo is addressed within Part C of the Report, which is dedicated to assessing the state of the environment in the European Union member countries and the cooperating countries, among which Kosovo also belongs.
The section of the Report on Kosovo in the European Environment, State and Outlook 2015, was prepared by the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, as the institution responsible for reporting and cooperating with the European Environment Agency.
