04.03.2016 - The Chief of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Ilir Morina, held a meeting today with the Executive Director of the Agency for the Administration of Seized or Confiscated Property, Mr. Rrahim Rama. The main topic of the discussion was cooperation between the two agencies in coordinating activities for the protection of forests in National Parks and the prevention of environmental crimes in these protected areas. Special emphasis was placed on discussing the coordination of actions for confiscation or seizure in cases of detected damages from illegal logging in National Parks and other damages that fall into the category of environmental crimes.
As part of the next steps in cooperation for strengthening the protection of National Parks and other protected areas, it was proposed that, in addition to cooperation with the Kosovo Police, activities should also be coordinated with the Basic Courts and Basic Prosecutor’s Offices, and with the Office of the National Coordinator for Combating Economic Crimes, which operates within the Office of the State Prosecutor. The Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, through the Directorate for the Administration of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park and the Directorate for the Administration of the Sharri National Park, manages and administers the territory and assets of these two protected areas.
