24.03.2016 - A few days ago, according to information published in several electronic and print media, the environmental situation and its effect on health in the municipality of Obiliq have been presented as alarming. These reports, with particular emphasis, have presented the situation in the village of Dardhishtë, thus causing confusion and misinformation not only for the residents of Obiliq but also more broadly.
With the aim of providing accurate and correct information, AMMK, as a central institution responsible for environmental monitoring, information, and reporting on its condition, feels responsible to offer the information it has available for this area, which results from monitoring the situation in this area and collecting information from various sources.
Initially, AMMK assesses that the effects attributed to exposure to emissions released by polluters in this municipality depend on the source, the exposure to the emission, pollution concentrations, and dose effects. From this assessment, it should be considered that environmental problems in KEK have started since the 1960s and as a form of pollutant accumulations, they are inherited. As a result of these pollutant accumulations, environmental and health effects in cumulative form can still be observed today.
The data that AMMK has on air quality, air emissions, investments in environmental improvement by the Municipality, KEK, and other donors, and the monitoring of the number of cases with chronic diseases in this municipality, show a discrepancy with the information released by electronic and written media. This is due to the fact that all indicators indicate that in this area over the past two years there has been an improvement in the state of the environment.
