20.09.2016 - The land cover of Kosovo for the year 2012, also known as CLC, has been realized for the first time in the territory of Kosovo by the institutions of Kosovo.
This was done by the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, as part of its participation in the work program of the European Environment Agency-EEA.
The Land Cover Project - Corine Land Cover (CLC), as part of the CORINE planning program, aimed to provide sustainable geographic information, localized on the land surface cover in European countries, through the creation of CLC data. The main purpose of the CLC data is to provide an inventory regarding the characteristics of the land surface for environmental management.
In the Balkan countries, the CLC for the year 2012 was implemented with financial support from IPA funds. In the management of CLC2012, the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, through the European Environment Agency, cooperated with the European Spatial Information and Analysis Center (E-SIAC). The completion of this project, aside from its environmental aspect, has multiple significance for the spatial and economic development of the country. CLC is a solid basis for all activities of a spatial nature, starting from land use, spatial planning, agriculture, forestry, environmental protection, telecommunications, energy, etc.
All institutions with a spatial character now have a concrete geo-database for land cover at the national level, updated in real time with solid accuracy, which will help you in calculations, analyses, planning, and real decision-making in the relevant activities and sectors.
