26.10.2016 - From today until 28 October, in Porto, Portugal, the 27th plenary meeting of the EPA Network (Network of Heads and Directors of Environmental Agencies in Europe) is being held. The Chief Executive Officer of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Ilir Morina, is also participating in this meeting.
During today, a special meeting of the Interest Group for Western Balkan countries, which operates within the EPA framework, was held. Initially, the meeting discussed the activities of this group so far and experiences were exchanged from meetings and projects in which the Environmental Agencies of Balkan countries participate, such as those related to climate change, activities within the ECRAN program, those from the energy and environment community, and other events.
Then, there was also a discussion about the work that has been done in finalizing projects initiated by the Interest Group for the Western Balkan Countries. These proposed projects and other projects involving the sectors of climate change, air, waste, water, and biodiversity will be supported by the European Environment Agency and by other donors active in the Balkan region.
The 27th plenary meeting of the EEA will continue tomorrow with the extended meeting in which representatives of Environmental Agencies and other relevant institutions from most European countries will participate. In addition to reporting on activities carried out between the two meetings, this time the focus of the meeting will be on topics related to the green economy, food waste, and sustainable transport.
