29.11.2016. Based on measurements carried out by the two air quality monitoring stations in Pristina in urban and suburban areas, respectively the yard of the Rilindja building and the yard of the Hydrometeorological Institute, during the period 26.11.2016 to 29.11.2016, an improvement in air quality was recorded for all monitored parameters, especially for airborne particles (PM10 and PM2.5).
Currently, the PM10 values, for which exceedances were recorded on previous days, are within the allowed limits of the daily average values (50 µg/m3).
From the analysis of the results obtained from the automatic monitoring of air quality, it was observed that during these days the recorded values for PM2.5 have been within the permissible limits, except for the date 26.11.2016, where the maximum daily average recorded value was 55 µg/m3, corresponding to the orange zone, which according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) is sensitive only for persons with high sensitivity to this pollution. The values recorded on the other days have been within the allowable standards, respectively in the yellow and green zones of the Air Quality Index, which correspond to zones with satisfactory air quality.
As for the daily limit values for PM10, exceedances were recorded only on 26.11.2016 with 65 µg/m³, while on all other days the values were within limits and ranged between 20 µg/m³ and 37 µg/m³.
This improvement in the situation has come as a result of changes in atmospheric conditions, specifically the appearance of favorable meteorological conditions for the dispersion of pollutant concentrations, such as the dissipation of fog, the presence of wind, rainfall, and snowfall. This situation has influenced the spread of concentrations of pollutants emitted from industry, transport, and both collective and individual heating sources, improving the air quality status.
