06.04.2017 - The Director of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, Ilir Morina, is participating in the 28th meeting of the EPA Network, being held in Rome, Italy.
Representatives of Environmental Agencies and other relevant institutions from most European countries are participating in the 28th plenary meeting of the European Environment Agency Network.
In the opening part of this meeting, the main activities carried out by the network between the two meetings were discussed, including the exchange of experiences with the European Commission and with the European Environment Agency, where the Director of the Directorate for Environment of the European Commission, Daniel Cellaja Crespo, and the Executive Director of the European Environment Agency, Hans Bruyninckx, presented reports.
Within the framework of the thematic sessions, the focus of the meeting on the first day was on policies, measures, and actions in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals and in implementing the European Union's 2030 Agenda, with particular emphasis on references and discussions regarding issues related to adaptation and response to climate change and natural hazards.
Discussions on this thematic issue continued in the subsequent session of the meeting, where, among other things, the attention was focused on monitoring, reporting, and reviewing progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, with experiences, assessments, indicators, and programs presented from national levels as well as from regional organizations.
Within the framework of the meeting agenda for tomorrow, a discussion is planned regarding the network's activities within the interest groups, one of which is the Interest Group for Western Balkan countries, which operates within the EPA. During the period between the two meetings, it has carried out several activities to finalize projects involving the sectors of climate change, air, waste, water, and biodiversity. In the concluding session of the meeting, several issues related to environmental emergencies will be addressed, including the impact of air pollution and climate change on cultural heritage, a topic that is also linked to the study visit that meeting participants will make to some cultural heritage sites in Rome.
