I LIVE GREEN - Competition for short videos with environmental content

08 December 2017 07.12.2017 - The European Environment Agency and its partners are organizing a short video contest on the theme "I live green." The state of the environment we live in is greatly influenced by our daily actions and decisions, which have to do with how we travel, how we heat our homes, or how we eat. Some of these daily actions can be changed with the aim of reducing the impact on the environment we live in and the consequences on health. The contest aims to encourage people across Europe to take more actions in their daily lives to live in an environmentally friendly way. Therefore, show what small or large actions you take to protect the environment?

Share your actions through short videos to motivate and inspire others to join their actions for the benefit of our environment.

Although green actions can be taken in most aspects of our daily lives, the short video contest “I Live Green” is focused on the following areas:

1. Sustainable food

Food is essential for a healthy life. Food production requires valuable resources such as land and water. Pesticides and fertilizers in agriculture can impact surface and groundwater. Some choices and eating habits, such as the amount of meat we consume or how we manage leftover food, can play a role in ensuring that these resources are not unintentionally depleted, thereby reducing pressure on the environment.

2. Clean air

Air pollutants are released as a result of many different activities, from transportation to agriculture. Our preference for public transport, cycling or walking, carpooling, or choosing an electric car instead of a gasoline or diesel car would certainly help improve air quality and increase the quality of life in our city.

3. Clean Water

Our water sources are under the influence of various pressures, including overexploitation, climate change, and pollution from various sources such as agriculture and urban wastewater, affecting not only our health but also marine life. Plastic shopping bags, facial cleansers, and toothpaste containing microplastics can all end up in our seas and harm marine animals.

4. Waste Minimization

All the products we buy have a limited lifespan. There are new ways to reduce the amount of products thrown into landfills. In this regard, some products can be rented and shared with others, while others can be repaired and/or reused for different purposes. Or, different types of materials can be recycled in a way that they can be used in new products.

How to participate in the competition:

Step 1: Create a video clip (30-40 seconds), relevant to one of the thematic areas specified according to the guidelines.

Step 2: Prepare a short textual description of no more than 1000 characters (preferably in English), which should be sent (uploaded) together with the video.

Step 3: Submit your materials via the online platform.
