04.06.2018- With the support of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), within the framework of the Environmental Program for Kosovo, a delegation from AMMK conducted a study visit to Sweden, to gain experiences for the environmental sector from this country.
As part of the visit, meetings were held with Swedish institutions at the central, regional, and local levels to learn about institutional organization, the legal and programmatic framework, as well as the process of monitoring, reporting, and informing the public about the environment.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Environmental Institute, the Swedish Geological Service, the Regional Administration of Stockholm, and the municipalities of Nacka and Hørby were the institutions visited, where experiences were gained.
During this study visit, practical visits were also carried out to see up close the implementation of certain environmental objectives. Such visits included the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Kappala and Tyresta National Park. Experiences from waste recycling practices were presented to the participants from Kosovo by the Environment Department of Tetra Pack Nordics, and a meeting was also held with the Environment Department of the Swedish International Development Agency, where the possibilities of project implementation, cooperation, and obtaining funds for the future in the environmental and climate change sector were discussed.
This study visit, carried out within the framework of the component: 'Strengthening the capacities of AMMK for Environmental Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting' of the Environmental Program for Kosovo, was a good opportunity to closely observe the practices of a European Union country in environmental management, with a focus on environmental monitoring and the environmental information system.
