03.07.2018 - The CEO of AMMK, Mr. Ilir Morina, in his capacity as the National Operational Focal Point, together with the Minister of MMPH, Albena Reshitaj, participated in the Annual Assembly of GEF (Global Environmental Facility) held in Vietnam.
The delegation from Kosovo was among 183 countries worldwide participating in this assembly. On this occasion, Minister Reshitaj presented to the participants the state of the environment in Kosovo, its needs and challenges, and requested that Kosovo have access to the GEF “STAR 7” program, with a budget of 4.6 billion dollars for the next three years.
Formal and informal official meetings were also held with the Minister of Environment of Vietnam, representatives of GEF, representatives of UNEP, representatives from GCF (Green Climate Fund), and other representatives from various countries participating in the assembly as well as representatives of different UN organizations.
In meetings, the willingness to support Kosovo was expressed, in activities within the framework of the GEF, and in activities within the framework of UN Conventions. Kosovo's participation in the GEF general assembly was a long-standing objective of the MMPH and an important achievement in representing Kosovo in the organizations and funds of the United Nations.
