17.08.2018 - The Kosovo Institute for Nature Protection during the year 2018 conducted a study of natural values in the territory of the Gjakova municipality.
During fieldwork, the Institute's teams, in cooperation with the municipal environmental officers of Gjakova, identified for protection 10 new natural values such as: the Oak Trunk in Bec, the Oak Trunk in Herec, the Trunk Complex in Shqiponjë (Jabllanicë), the Trunk Complex in Zhabel, the Oak Trunk in Rrypaj, the Trunk Complex in Mulliq, the Water Spring in Mulliq, the Cave Complex in Kusar, the Water Spring in Kusar, and the Oak Trunk in Vogovë.
The list of natural monuments along with the prepared studies has been submitted for approval to the Municipal Assembly of Gjakova. The Municipal Assembly of Gjakova has made a decision for the approval and protection of natural values in the territory of the Gjakova municipality by adding ten new objects to the list of natural values of Kosovo and by expanding the list of protected areas of Kosovo to 198 protected areas of different categories.
