The Hydrometeorological Yearbook 2015-2016 is published

07 September 2018

07.09.2018- The annual report contains information from continuous hydrological, climatological, and meteorological monitoring in the Republic of Kosovo for the years 2015 and 2016.

Monitoring of hydrological, climatological, and meteorological processes is within the framework of the legal obligations of the Kosovo Hydro-Meteorological Institute based on Law no. 02/1-79 on Hydro-Meteorological Activity.

The information produced from IHMK monitoring on climatic conditions in Kosovo is important and reliable data that can be used for the construction and operation of water resource management structures, for the design of river infrastructure, and for making decisions that have a positive ecological impact.

The data provided through this “Hydrometeorological Yearbook” also enable the identification of significant climate changes and serve for the drafting of a work plan for managing climate change crises as well as adapting to them.

The Hydrometeorological Yearbook 2015-2016 is a continuation of the process of publishing climate data generated and monitored by the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute, which performs this task based on the law.

The publication of the yearbook has been supported by GIZ GmbH within the framework of support for the development and strengthening of the hydrology and meteorology sector in Kosovo.

On this occasion, on behalf of AMMK/IHMK, I express special gratitude to GIZ, not only for the support of this publication but also for the continuous support for many environmental sectors.

We hope that this Yearbook will be a significant source not only for providing data on the hydrometeorological situation in Kosovo but also a document that will serve policymakers in the implementation of sustainable policies in the hydrology, meteorology, and climate change sectors, and donors in guiding the necessary projects to strengthen this sector.
