11.09.2018 - The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in the meeting held today, has reviewed and approved the Annual Report on the State of the Environment for the year 2017.

β€œThe Government of the Republic of Kosovo, after review, has approved the 2017 annual report on the state of the environment in Kosovo. This report will be forwarded to the Assembly of Kosovo, as regulated by the Law on Environmental Protection. The report contains data on changes in the environment compared to the previous report, environmental impacts on public health, the condition of endangered environments, the implementation of the environmental strategy, measures for environmental protection, the development of environmental institutions, and the financing of the system for environmental protection. The main purpose of the report is to inform about the state of the environment in Kosovo. The data in this report enables the drafting of adequate environmental and developmental policies in sectors that impact the environment, such as the economy, energy, transport, and agriculture,” it states, among other things, in the press release from the Prime Minister's office.

In accordance with the duties and responsibilities of government institutions, the institution responsible for drafting the report is the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency. For the preparation of the report, KEPA has collected environmental data from monitoring institutions, companies, operators, publications, reports, and other sources. The collected data has been processed and is now presented in the form of an annual report. The further procedure for review and approval foresees that the report will also be sent for review and approval to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
