23 January 2019 22.01.2019 - The implementation of network redesign activities for air quality monitoring has begun. These activities have resulted from the process of reviewing the current national monitoring network. Within the framework of the process of reviewing the current network for air quality monitoring, the group of experts from MoEPT/AMMK has issued the recommendation that the stations located in Drenas, Prizren, and Gjilan should be relocated. This is due to the change in conditions and the loss of required monitoring criteria at the locations near the stations in Prizren and Drenas as a result of urban constructions. As for the station in Gjilan, it has been recommended that it be relocated after a long period of monitoring in the urban traffic area and it has been proposed to monitor the residential urban area.
In the implementation of the relocation of stations, the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo as the managing body of the monitoring network has received financial support from the Millennium Kosovo Foundation (MFK).
These days, the process of relocating the station in Drenas has been finalized after the appropriate infrastructure for the station was previously constructed.
As part of this process, a protective fence has also been installed at the monitoring station in Mitrovica.
In the coming days, the relocation of two other monitoring stations in Prizren and Gjilan will also be carried out.
