01.03.2019 - In the organization of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, within the Environmental Program for Kosovo-KEP 2016, component "Strengthening the capacities of KEPA for Environmental Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting," the workshop "Geospatial data and their role in the development of development policies and decision-making - Current situation, challenges and priorities for the future" was held.
The aim of the workshop was to present national experiences in generating geospatial data and to discuss possibilities for more efficient use of this data in drafting policies and plans.
From the presentations, discussions, and experiences presented in this workshop, it was concluded that geospatial data is the main basis for the development of sustainable development policies and efficient decision-making.
Among other things, it was concluded that the main priorities in this sector should be directed towards strengthening a national integrated system for geospatial data, the formation of a national coordinating body for the collection, management, and maintenance of geospatial data, as well as the enhancement of human and technical capacities of central and local institutions for the collection, maintenance, management, unification, and exchange of geospatial data. In addition to AMMK, representatives from the Kosovo Cadastral Agency, the Spatial Planning Institute, other representatives from MMPH, as well as representatives from other central, local, and academic institutions in Kosovo involved with geospatial data, participated in this workshop.
