11.05.2019 - After the publication of information regarding the decision of the Kosovo Forestry Agency to kill the Brown Bear, AMMK informs the public opinion that this decision is in contradiction with the recommendations and positions of the professional commission of MMPH that was established to assess this situation.
The commission for assessing the measures that should be taken for the protection of residents and their property caused by the Brown Bear has completed its work related to evaluating the situation and providing recommendations for the measures that should be taken regarding this situation.
The commission has prepared a report in which several recommendations and safety measures are also presented.
Among other things, it has been recommended to increase security measures, to change the bear's habitat, to implement the existing legislation for protected animal species, as well as to draft an action plan for managing the situation.
MMPH / AMMK warns that legal measures will be taken against all those who act in violation of the legislation on protected animal species, including filing lawsuits.
