13 December 2019 13.12.2019- The Kosovo Institute for Nature Protection during the year 2019 conducted research on the natural values in the municipality of Prizren and completed studies on the natural values in the municipalities of Gjilan and Viti. All these activities were carried out in coordination with the responsible directors of the respective municipalities. The research on natural values in the municipality of Prizren was carried out during the period May-October, during which all settlements of the municipality of Prizren were visited, and 20 new natural values were identified, of which a list of 13 zones was proposed for approval to the municipal assembly.
In the municipalities of Gjilan and Viti, the process of researching natural values had been carried out previously, while during the year 2019, study reports were prepared for a total of 20 natural values: 13 in the Municipality of Gjilan and 7 in the Municipality of Viti. The studies were forwarded for approval by the municipal assemblies, and after approval, the natural values of these two municipalities will be added to the List of Protected Areas of Kosovo.
During the year 2019, after approval by the municipal assemblies, 16 more natural values were added to the list of protected areas, of which 12 are in the Municipality of Mitrovica and 4 in the Municipality of Obiliq.
Also concluded is the submission of the study for the protection of the endemic species Boshta (Forsythia europea) ecosystem in the “Golesh“ massif as a protected natural monument.
